The Uganda Digital Society will hold its first Women in Digital gathering on 7th March 2026, at the Bight of Benin on Kyadondo Road. The event will run from 10AM to 1PM and is free of charge.
Sponsored by Triverse, Phos, Moving Ads, Contivibe Media, and Loud Digital, the gathering will bring together women working across Uganda’s digital sector for a panel discussion and networking opportunities. It falls during International Women’s Month and will run under the theme “Give to Gain.”
Joan Generous Asaba, Vice President of the Uganda Digital Society, said the event came out of feedback from women who felt they were navigating their careers without much support or community.
”Some women have shared that they’ve been navigating their careers alone and are eager to find community and direction,” she said, adding that as Uganda’s digital economy grows, women need to be at the centre of it. “It is critical that women are not only participants but leaders, innovators, and decision-makers.”
The morning will open with a keynote from Sharon Sanya Mirembe, Digital Communications Officer at DTB Uganda, on sustainability and wellbeing in digital careers.
A panel discussion will follow, moderated by Asaba. Rhoda Musiima, founder of Phos Creatives, will speak on growth, visibility and leadership. Gloria Wanyenze, an advocate, will cover the legal and regulatory side of working in the digital economy, while Gladys Namyalo, social media producer at Nation Media’s NTV UG, will address breaking into the industry and building from entry-level positions.
The Uganda Digital Society says this is not a one-off, as further training sessions and meetups are planned beyond Saturday’s event.
